A foreigner has accomplished something that local institutions in Durrës never managed to do.

Keith Lauchlan, a Briton who has recently divided his time between France and Durrës, has created a website offering detailed information about the city’s public transportation system, including bus stops, schedules, routes, and more.

Durresbybus.com is an online platform designed primarily to assist foreign tourists, as well as residents from various countries who have chosen Durrës as their home or workplace.

For “DurrësLajm,” Keith shares that he took this initiative after noticing that missing information about the city’s public buses was a primary concern among foreign citizens in social media groups.

“It’s difficult to find information. No website informs you about the schedule of city buses. I traveled on every bus line, mapped out their routes, and then designed the map and the site. It serves tourists and foreign residents, but we will also translate it into Albanian,” says Lauchlan.

The lack of information about urban lines significantly hinders the movement of foreigners in the city, both during their vacations and during their extended stays in Durrës.

“To travel to another city, you go to the terminal, and a big board there directs you on which bus to take. It’s easier to travel to another city than to get to Porto Romano or Currila,” adds the Briton, Lauchlan.

Currently, the website provides detailed information about the bus routes for several of the main lines in the coastal city. It is expected to be further expanded to include additional lines, such as Durrës – Shënavlash, University, and Shijak.
